Origin: Southern Asia

Traditional herbal uses: The bark is astringent and employed against rheumatism and diphtheria in India. The resinous gum from the trunk is applied on cracks in the skin of the feet and on scabies, and is believed helpful in cases of syphilis. In some of the islands of the Caribbean, the leaf decoction is taken as a remedy for diarrhoea, fever, chest complaints, diabetes, hypertension and other ills. A combined decoction of mango and other leaves is taken after childbirth.

We never arrive when mangoes are in season – this time we were too late. In a place where people become absolutely sick of mangoes in such abundance, we had yet to taste a single one! The garden contained an enormous tree, with a few flower clusters way up at the top, some 10-15 meters above me. I set the bowl of water beneath the tree to capture it's energy
